The summer sales are now in full swing and with prices still to be reduced by up to 70% there are some great savings to be made. As I mentioned in my Savvy Sale Shopping blog, it’s always good to keep an eye out for the next seasons big trends. I realise it might be hard to think about what you’ll be wearing in autumn/winter when we haven’t even had a summer yet, but if you shop smart you can grab yourself some of the key trends for AW16 now. So with that in mind, here are three of my favourite AW16 trends to look out for in the sales.

With everyone from Burberry to Celine featuring them in their AW16 collections, the mac is set to be the coat trend of autumn/winter16. There are so many great ones in the summer sales, I could have listed about twenty of them. Make sure to check out Zara, Mango and ASOS if this is a trend you want to buy into.

Leopard print is going to be THE print of autumn/winter 16. Personally leopard print is always on trend for me, so if like me you wear lots of it, then the sales are always a good time to invest.

Ruffles have been around for a couple of seasons now and are set to stay for AW16. Admittedly they are going to be heavier for winter (think knits and leather) but I still think it's worth looking out for lighter weight versions in the sales if you like this trend.

Next up on my Accessories Edit is the animal print trend. Personally, I think animal print accessories are a good addition to your wardrobe whatever the season. Head-to-toe black with some leopard print shoes, or a grey t-shirt and jeans with a snake skin belt, are just two of the many ways you can add something special to a simple outfit. From leopard, croc and zebra there are plenty of ways you can add some animal print into your wardrobe and with so much great choice out there right now, this Autumn/Winter is the perfect time to do it.

1. Kurt Geiger Bailey Snake Clutch / 2. Zara leather high heel shoes / 3. Mango leopard leather cross body bag / 4. Aldo Goods bag / 5. Mint Velvet Sami kitten heel ankle boots / 6. Mango leather fur belt / 7. Topshop leopard print scarf / 8. Etassi knee high boots / 9. Carvela taupe combination heeled boots / 10. John Lewis Collection Weekend Pony Slip On Pumps

With the final days of the September sunshine over, it’s time to turn our attention to one of our biggest wardrobe investments of the year - our winter coat. I have to say I’ve got a thing for outerwear, which is why I love autumn/winter style. You could be wearing the simplest of outfits, but add a great coat and it just feels all the more special.

So, what to choose? There are the obvious classics which I think everyone woman should have in her wardrobe and which I’ve got in mine. The camel coat, grey overcoat, the classic trench, and the perfect parka.

For those of you that like your coat to include some print I think animal print is always a good addition, as is tweed, plaid or check. Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean your coat has to be dark and dreary, so don’t be afraid to go for one in a bright colour. Just make sure you choose the right colour for your skin tone and one that will compliment the clothes in your wardrobe. As I mentioned in my blog ‘Seeing Red’ I’ve bought myself a scarlet red coat recently, which will work with all the muted tones and animal prints I have in my wardrobe.

It’s going to be one of your most worn items over the coming months and the first thing people see, so whatever you choose make sure it fits well and makes you feel great. Oh, and keeps you warm!
